In deep sadness, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that Lorenzo “Larry” LaBrosse of Pinconning, MI, left formation on 16 October 2017 at age 94. Larry was a 335th ball turret gunner. He passed away peacefully at the Linwood Residence Assisted Living. Folded wings. 

Larry was born to the late Henry and Hattie (Rittenberg) LaBrosse on 16 July 1923 in Detroit. As his obituary reads, he “married the love of his life, Katheleen Eva Scheer, on April 10, 1948 at Hope Lutheran Church in Rhodes, Michigan. She survives him. Larry retired from the US Air Force with 22 1/2 years of service and served in WWII and the Korean War. He was also a part of the 95th Bomb Group, 8th AAF. 

“He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church (St. Anne Campus) for numerous years and was also a member of the American Legion, VFW and the DAV. Larry enjoyed farming and woodworking after his retirement. 

“Surviving besides his wife of 69 years are their 8 children: Donald (Shirley) LaBrosse, Robert (Patty) LaBrosse, Carol LaBrosse, Mary (Larry) Traxler, Michael LaBrosse and friend Tammy Debusschere, Eileen (Dale, Jr.) Monroe, Mark (Dominque) LaBrosse, and Joseph (Athena) LaBrosse; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; his sister, Marion (LaBrosse) Lucke. He was predeceased by his stepmother Cecilia (Monsion) Martin; grandson John LaBrosse; two brothers and their wives, Harold and Billy LaBrosse, James and Victoria LaBrosse; father-in-law John Scheer and mother-in-law Theresa (Schussler) Scheer. 

“Funeral Services [were] held Friday, October 20, 2017, at 11 am from Prince of Peace Parish-St. Anne Campus with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Coffaro and Deacon Michael Arnold presiding with burial in St. Anne Cemetery with full military funeral honors. . . . Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Linwood Residence and their staff for all the compassion given to Larry and his family.” 

Kathleen wrote Linda Endris with news of Larry’s passing. “He lived a long + interesting life,” penned Kathleen. “We will miss him very much.” In her note, Kathleen also expressed to Linda how much the Veterans Day cards from the children of St. Barnabas Catholic School in Indianapolis meant to her husband: “Larry always looked forward to those cards year after year.”
