Charles A. Besser Jr., of Sun City West, died at age 100 on June 19, 2016. Mr. Besser was a graduate of the University of Baltimore, a certified public accountant in Maryland and retired from the Dept. of Defense. He served as a B-17 pilot of Flying Fortress Bombers in World War II with a European combat tour, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and five air medals. He was a vestryman and Senior Warden of the Episcopal Church in Sun City, AZ. He moved to Sun City in 1972. He was an active golfer and served three years as Treasurer of Sun City Men's Golf Association.


In 1992 he moved to Sun City West. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice; two brothers, Edward and Norman; and his parents, Mr. Besser Jr. is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Charles; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 


Visitation with the family will be Friday, June 24, 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Sunland Mortuary & Memorial Park. Service will be Saturday, June 25, 9:00 A.M., at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, 13150 Spanish Garden Drive, Sun City West. Entombment will follow at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City.
