This is my dad US Army Air Corp. 2nd Lt. Gilbert R. Van Brocklin. He was a bombardier on a B17 during WWII. His plane was named "Poof Proof." His plane proved not to be, as Dad was hit by flack over Germany. The picture is of my dad as he is receiving The Purple Heart. His story is while wounded in the face, my dad completed the mission and then was the only one who remembered the call signs for landing bank in England. Dad recently passed away May 1, 2017 he was a month shy of his 93 birthday
