With heavy hearts, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that Fred Canfield of Sun City, AZ, left formation on 27 November 2017 at age 94. Fred was a 334th radio operator. He passed away at his son's home in Carson City, NV. Folded wings. 

Fred was born in Lansing, MI, to Fred and Bertha (Wood) Canfield on October 25, 1923. As his obituary reads, he “was a World War II Veteran serving in England with the 95th Bomb Group in the Eighth Air Force.

“He married Doreen Stockwell June 23, 1945. He worked most of his life in construction and became a general contractor. In retirement, he and Doreen enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel around the country. He loved to play horseshoes and won many tournaments.

“He was preceded in death by his parents, Doreen, his wife of 69 years, and five siblings. He is survived by daughters Julee Nelson of Gunnison, CO, Terry (George) Amaral of Castro Valley, CA, Janean (David) Hansen of Simi Valley, CA; son William (Shannan) Canfield of Carson City, NV; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

“The immediate family is planning a private memorial in the spring.”
